17th October 2016 – Autism Rocks, the charity that specialises in raising funds for autism research and support, has today announced that the legendary CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers will be performing a special Christmas concert in London.
The show, Autism Rocks Sessions with CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers, will be held at the Eventim Apollo on December 23rd.
In June this year the first Autism Rocks Sessions with Ricky Martin sold more than 4,000 tickets and raised over £100,000 in donations.
CHIC, featuring Grammy-winning composer, producer, arranger and guitarist Nile Rodgers, is considered the greatest live dance music band of all time.
Nile Rodgers and CHIC are best known for classic hits such as “Le Freak”, “I Want Your Love” and “Good Times”. As a producer, Rodgers has worked closely with Madonna, Diana Ross, David Bowie and Daft Punk, among other great artists.
In recent years Nile Rodgers’ career has proved to be as popular as ever. In 2012, Rodgers announced his collaboration with Daft Punk for their latest album “teasing out their R&B influences” and their single “Get Lucky” quickly became a worldwide hit. Rodgers’ performance at Glastonbury in 2013 prompted Noel Gallagher to declare he had outshone the Rolling Stones and the Artic Monkeys.
Nile Rodgers has won multiple awards and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year. Additionally, Rodgers is currently at work on “It’s About Time,” the first new CHIC album in 25 years.
Entrepreneur Sanjay Shah, founder of Autism Rocks, said: “CHIC and Nile Rodgers are set to ramp up the seasonal cheer and lead us right into Christmas with an unforgettable live show for fans and families.
“We are absolutely delighted that CHIC and Nile are lending their support to our cause. Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the world and it is important to raise awareness of the condition.”
Through the events’ proceeds, Autism Rocks has been supporting research into autism, life-changing projects aimed at helping non-verbal children with autism to learn how to speak and cutting-edge new ways of studying the autistic brain, such as the use of stem cell neuron testing.
Tickets to the Autism Rocks Christmas Special Session with CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers will be available on Wednesday 19th October at www.autism.rocks and www.eventim.co.uk/chic from £42 for a standard ticket to £150 for VIP tickets, which include access to the enclosure and an inclusive drinks package.
